Sanjuro Training Systems

How it all came about:

Four years ago began I met Sanjuro founder Glen Delikan.  I began training shortly after that and have introduced many actors and fight directors to the art, several of whom are now instructors or are training to be instructors.

Sanjuro is a modern accessible martial art, a fusion of kick-fit classes, dance, and non-contact fighting play, all practised with music. The other side of the coin is sanjuro ‘dance combat’ which focuses on form, fitness, and flexibility.

Sanjuro is ideal for actor/combatants as a fast track introduction Martial Arts form and technique. No previous Martial art experience is required, no traditional uniforms or tense classrooms- this is a friendly, fun contemporary martial art practiced to today’s dance music.

Experienced martial artists also enjoy the informal atmosphere and non-traditional practice. Until I saw it myself I would never have believed that a martial art practice could address so many varied backgrounds and be so enjoyable!

The practice of Sanjuro is ideal for action actors, and a fast track to:

  • Spontaneity
  • Awareness
  • Adaptability
  • Fitness
  • Suppleness
  • Physical communication
  • Martial understanding

It was so clear that the atmosphere, the practice, and the classes would compliment YB actor/combatant training that we just had to make Sanjuro available to YB students.

See you in class!

Guys an individual posted this article to my blog recently, any thoughts on it?

When you study actual martial arts fighting, you will discover specific truths about how to survive. One in the truths is that the human mental apparatus doesn’t commonly jobs well as soon as it’s getting bashed, and survival mode kicks in. Fighters who survive by the amount of adrenaline kicked in would have you believe that this is the issue of it all, but it is not, it’s the worst factor that could happen. As being a species we don’t have quills, or claws, or smells, or jaws, or any specific characteristic that would support us survive, except that factor we call a mind. It’s the mind that solves problems, it is the mind that adapts to survive. It is this thing called a mind that we need to discover how to use if we are to reach our full potential as humans, and as humans within the fighting mode. A single need to manage the distance inside a fight, by controlling distance we have alternative as to what weapon we choose to use. The method to do that is to tie a string in the belt to his, and process moving so how the string stays taut with out breaking. Now, move in this fashion, and within a short time your system will move of the other people system as it likes the simple fact of harmony. We have to control the fact from the leg movements. One of the most leg positioning is after the legs are inside a matching stance, that may be to say his right leg is forward and so is yours, the second finest position is whenever you are in an opposing stance, which is to say his right leg is forward, and your left leg is forward. The method to train yourself to often have matching stance is merely to walk from the string, and striving to always stay in a matching stance. We need to manage the movement in the arms, again, inside a matching or opposing sense. No string required here, but you do need to be aware of distance, you need to match the movement of one’s partners arms as he closes distance.

I have quite a few of the same articles on my blog at my UFC website, you should check it out :D Covers everything from Martial Arts Moves, Martial Arts Moves and even mixed martial arts fighting!
